1. Physiotherapy
Physiotherapy helps the body to work better and feel better. You don’t have to be in pain, as we can help with sport training issues, preparation for a big event or even a ski holiday.
Physiotherapy aims to restore balance and help the body heal itself as fully as possible, rather than to target individual problems by relieving them temporarily. Chartered physiotherapists look at the 'whole' person, taking into account previous medical history, work and lifestyle before making a diagnosis and devising a treatment programme that is tailored to an individual's needs.

If you are having any problems with your running, we can help. We can look at your gait and your trainers, we can assess for tight muscles, weak muscles, stiff joints or loose joints, which could all affect your performance.
Also, we can advise on your training if you are preparing for an event, and we can provide sports massage to help prepare you before a run, or to help you recover more quickly after a run.
2. Western Medical Acupuncture
Acupuncture is effective in a wide range of painful conditions and is commonly used to treat musculoskeletal pain; e.g. back, shoulder, neck and leg pain. It has also been successfully used to treat headaches, migraines, trapped nerves, chronic muscle strains and various kinds of rheumatic and arthritic pain.

The British Medical Acupuncture Society.
Every patient will have an initial assessment, followed by a course of treatment suitable for the condition. Treatment is usually provided in up to six consecutive appointments, but may be less if the condition responds quickly. However, if your condition cannot be treated with acupuncture, you will be recommended to see your GP or an appropriate specialist. The treatment itself uses sterile disposable needles which are inserted through the skin at specific points and briefly left in position.
3. Massage & Sports Massage
Massage is a core skill that has been traditionally used by physiotherapists for over 100 years. It is a treatment using the hands to manipulate the soft tissues of the body to obtain relaxation, healing and wellbeing.
Sports massage therapy is an asset to any physical training regime. Massage, if applied correctly and skillfully, is the most effective therapy for relaxing tension-filled muscles and muscles that have either been stretched or over-worked. Such constant strains can lead to further injury and stresses on tendons, ligaments and bigger joints. Massage therapy can help to relieve these muscle strains and help to avoid further body imbalances caused by such muscle tension.
Conditions which can be relieved by massage include
- Anxiety and depression
- Back conditions
- Headaches
- Long term illness
- Lower limb problems
- Musculo-skeletal (muscle and bone) disorders
- Neck problems
- Neurological conditions
- Plastic surgery
- Respiratory disorders
- Sleep disorders
- Sports injury
- Sports preparation
- Sports recovery
- Stress
- Terminal illness
- Upper limb problems
and many more.

4. Reflexology
Reflexology is a gentle, holistic therapy focusing on the hands and feet, which mirror precise areas of the body. Manipulation of these parts can relieve many physical and neurological conditions and enhance health physically, mentally and emotionally.
Conditions which can be relieved by reflexology
- Acute conditions
- Arthritic conditions - eg osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, rheumatoid arthritis and spondylitis
- Chronic conditions
- Immune deficiency disorders - eg chronic fatigue syndrome
- Mental health - eg depression and SAD
- Migraine and headaches
- Muscle and joint disorders
- Neurological conditions - eg cerebral palsy, Parkinson's Disease and stroke
- Paediatrics
- Sports injuries
- Stress-related conditions
and many more.

5. Personal Training
Personal training is one-on-one work with clients either in a gym or in the client's home, including assessment of a client's level of physical fitness, advice in setting and reaching fitness goals, demonstration of new exercises and refinement of a client's exercise techniques, monitoring of a client's progress, and advice on how to modify lifestyle to improve fitness.
Available at The Green Clinic:
The principles of Pilates are relaxation, concentration, alignment, breathing, centring, co-ordination, flowing movements, and stamina.
The benefits include improved flexibility, greater strength and muscle tone, lowered stress levels, a flatter stomach and trimmer waist, better posture, and less incidence of back pain.
Weight Training can burn more calories than a running/jogging programme! Resistance training is an essential element of overall fitness. The number of repetitions, amount of weight lifted and frequency of workouts will all depend on a client's fitness goals. The biggest myth about weight training is that weightlifting makes for bigger muscle. Weights don't always mean big bulky muscles. Lightweight, fast repetitions induce toning, rather than muscle growth.
This has become one of the most effective methods of cardiovascular personal training. Aimed directly at weight loss and fat reduction, boxing is a great workout for the entire body, including range of motion and core strengthening. Not only does sparring with a partner or trainer raise your heart rate for quick bursts of time (the most effective method of burning fat), but it also works almost the entire range of muscles in your body.
This combines the benefits of weight training with cardiovascular exercises.
